A Trio of Thank You's

Finally I am back to share some more Thank You cards I made for Mikey's birthday gifts.  I primarily used Star Prints for the cards, I just love that set!  The first card was inspired by a card from Amy Rohl in this post.  I used Kraft for the cardbase, Spring Rain and Dark Chocolate for the focal image and a little Rustic Wood button.

Supplies:  Stamps - Star Prints; Ink - Spring Rain, Dark Chocolate; Cardstock - Rustic Cream, Kraft, Dark Chocolate; Other - Spring Rain Satin Ribbon, Rustic Wood Button, Rustic Button Twine, Border Punch (EK Success)

Second card was inspired by this months Guest Star Stamper winner for Papertrey, Tracey Cuccia - you can see the card on this post from Nichole.  Anyhow, it uses Fancy Flourishes and Star Prints - a perfect pair in my opinion!

Shower Invitation

Good Monday Morning!  Hope everyone is well and had a nice weekend!  Our weekend felt busy but we didn't really do that much outside of cleaning and house projects.  And it was HOT!!!  So thankfully my hubby put in our air conditioner and it makes life so much more comfortable.  Anyhow, I promised to show you the bridal shower invitation I made for my sister.  She really likes tea so we decided to have a tea party themed shower.  And what is more perfect than Papertrey's Tea for Two set to make the invitations.  I used the flourish and flower from With Sympathy on their wedding invitation as well so I thought it would be perfect to do the same thing on the shower invitation.  So here they are, simple cute and fun I think.  They took a while to reproduce (we did about 40) but I love how they turned out.  Her wedding color is mainly tangerine so I used Colorbox Chalk Ink in Tangerine and the cardstock is from Paper Source in Poppy.  The blue is SU!'s Pacific Point (last years In Color).

I hope you all have a great week!  I am hoping to be back later with more of the thank you cards I promised last week!  Off to create with my little boy!!

Papertrey Blog Hop

It's Papertrey Blog Hop time again!  Usually I don't have time to participate but this month I did and I love the summer theme!  I found this super cute photograph on Flickr of some yummy looking Coconut & Lime Cupcakes, doesn't that sound delicious?!

Lime Cupcakes

I used the new set, Fruitful, to create a cute lime background using New Leaf and Spring Moss.  Then I used my glue pen to add Prism glitter to the edges.  I thought the perfect companion to this paper would be a cute margarita glass and sentiment from another fun set, Day at the Beach.  I added more glitter to the glass and to the lime wedge.  The card is 4.25x4.25, a really fun size and I added circles to echo the background above on the bottom New Leaf layer using Borders & Corners: Circle

A little accent of New Leaf Saddle Stitched Ribbon completes the look...here is a close up.

I sent this card to a good friend celebrating her birthday this weekend!!  I hope she has a great one!  Have a great evening!

Star Thank You

Wow, I have been trying to find a few minutes to blog all day!!  Such a busy day I should have known I wouldn't get a chance.  I had to work, Mikey had his 1 year doctors appointment (and shots), Jakey had swim lessons and we had to go to the post office and mail a whole bunch of invitations for my sister's bridal shower.  I will share that invite soon, I really like how it turned out.  For today though, I thought I would share one of the thank you cards I created for Mikey's birthday gifts.  This is one that evolved using scraps I had on my desk - had two rectangles cut with my Nestabilities and just a random rectangle that was a scrap.  I thought they would look cool as a panel with the stars spread across them - does that make sense?  Anyhow, I have been using Star Prints like crazy lately, I just love it!  I even picked up a couple of other sizes of star punches from Fiskars to compliment, I will use them soon and share!  Anyhow, here's the card, using Spring Moss, Spring Rain, and Ripe Avocado.   I also used the Vintage Touch tea dye to antique each panel.

Supplies:  Stamps - Star Prints, Ink - Spring Moss, Spring Rain, Ripe Avocado, Vintage Touch Tea Dye Duo; Cardstock - Rustic Cream, Spring Moss; Other - Rectangle Nestabilities (Spellbinders), Spring Rain & Spring Moss Vintage Buttons, Rustic Cream Button Twine

And I am sorry for the kinda weird picture, it was early in the morning and I was rushing to take the photos before Mikey woke up...and now I have sent all these cards out so I cannot retake the picture!!  I have a few more thank you cards to share over the next few days - all using Star Prints!  Well, I must say goodnight, I am pooped!!!

Happy Father's Day

Enjoying a quiet day around here celebrating Father's Day with the hubby.  I made breakfast at my dad's house with all my sisters, brother, brother-in-law, and sister-in-law this morning, was nice to celebrate at home with the family and all the crazy kids running around.  I made this super simple card to send to my grandpa, a wonderful dad and grandpa to all of us.  We recently got a chance to visit with him for a few days and it was so nice, I am so grateful to have him and my grandma in my life.

 06 18 09 004

I used a Labels 1 die from Spellbinders for the focal point - I love these!  Something I do sometimes with scraps and to save time later when making a quick card - I take a few minutes and die cut some shapes with my cuttlebug and keep them on my desk right in from of my stamp space.  Nothing  earth shattering but it does help me get things done quicker later.  So I used Star Prints and Pond Life for this card with some Rustic Wood Buttons - totally love how you can use those buttons with the darker side (the "right" side) or the lighter side showing.  So I hope you all have a great day, the weather here is beautiful today so I hope to get outside later with the kids and the most wonderful father I know, my hubby!

Vintage Picnic Birthday

I have another card I made with the new Vintage Picnic set from Papertrey.  I am not the best at coloring but I love this set and the details are so cute, I think I will enjoy coloring them!  I actually paired the dotted basket (the cutest I think) with the dotted candles from Cupcake Collection, I just masked the top of the basket and stamped the candle repeatedly.  I used Prismacolor pencils to color my little festive birthday basket and blended the colors with a little gamsol, also I stamped the image on Kraft just to see how the coloring would look and I think I like it:)!

Vintage-Picnic-2

The strip of patterned paper is from the new collection 2008 Bitty Box Basics, which I turned diagonally and cut to achieve the diagonal boxes.  If you get the paper you will see what I mean...  The Aqua Mist layer is dry embossed with my cuttlebug embossing folder that came as a set with a die full of baby sentiments.  I love those larger polka dots!

Vintage-Picnic-Close-Up

Supplies:

Stamps - Vintage Picnic
Ink - Black (Memories), True Black
Cardstock - Smokey Shadow, Kraft, Aqua Mist, Raspberry Fizz, Bitty Box Basics
Other - Aqua Mist Grosgrain, Labels 1 Dies (Spellbinders), True Black Vintage Button, Welcome Baby Embossing Folder (Provo Craft)

I also wanted to direct you (if you haven't already been there) to see this wonderful card on my fellow designer, Debbie's blog.  Her talent for coloring and putting together a card is phenomenal, she amazes me!

So I hope you are all having a super wonderful day!  Mikey was sick earlier this week but seems to be feeling better although his appetite isn't quite back yet.  We are also getting some summery weather which causes my Jacob to constantly ask if we can go swimming:)!  Be back soon with more stuff:)!

Fruitful

Good Afternoon!  As promised I have returned with another release project for the beautiful new set, Fruitful & Fruitful Sentiments, from June's Papertrey release.  I absolutely love this set and can't wait to make lots more projects with it.  For now, though, I made some cute labels using PTI's White Adhesive Label Sheets and the Mega Scalloped Oval Punch, a coordinating card and a decorated little tin to hold the labels.  The idea behind this project is from my Grandma Ginny, who makes Pineapple - Apricot Jam every year and wanted some cute labels to put on the outside of the jars.  She sometimes makes other kinds of jam but this one seems to be the most consistent year after year.  I love this jam, it is so delicious, especially on good homemade wheat bread.  Not that I usually have that, but I love it!  The other day I had it on a bagel with a little cream cheese and it was really yummy!

So here is a picture of the overall project:

Fruitful-1

For the little tin, I used a small hinged tin from PTI (like an Altoid tin) and covered the top with Bitty Box Basics paper (the dark chocolate piece) and added a circular label with the "Made with Love" sentiment (the smaller one) and a cute heart stamped with the solid heart from Heart Prints and punched with the small heart punch.  I also added a trio of coordinating buttons on each side and one rustic button in the middle of the heart.

 Fruitful-2

And here is the coordinating card, pretty straightforward...I added one line from Journaling Lines under the sentiment to highlight it and a flourish from Fancy Flourishes in the corner.  The card size is 4.25x4.25.

Fruitful-3

Now for the labels, which I absolutely love!  I used each of the different fruits in the set to create them, 5 of each.  I can't decide which is my favorite - maybe the pear one or the peach...or the raspberry, I don't know.  Here is a view of all of them together -

Fruitful-4

And a close up of the lemon-lime one - Fruitful-5

Fruitful-6 And one of the apple label...

So what do you all think?  Did you order this set?  If you did, you will definitely not regret it, so so cute!  I plan to make some cards with this soon!  Have a great day!

June Papertrey Release

Today's the day for the new release at Papertrey, hooray for all the new beautiful sets!  I love them all, they are so fun to create with!  Today I will share a couple of projects and save one for later in the week...

First up - Cupcake Collection - such a fun set with lots of different possibilities!  I have made a few cards with this set that I can't wait to share over the next few weeks!  For this card I wanted to have a little more masculine feel since I want to use the card for one of Thank You's for my baby boys birthday.  I stamped the cupcake images on Kraft using Ripe Avocado, Ocean Tides and the new color Scarlett Jewel.  I stamped the little star image (intended to be just a sprinkle top) all over just by masking the topper and fitting those little stars in all the spaces.

Cupcake Collection 1

I also used Polka Dot Basics, Star Prints, and Let Freedom Ring to stamp a few backgrounds to layer on the card.  The bottom zig zag is a new punch I found from EK Success, I love the little embossed "stitches" it creates.  I also framed the cupcake with the dotted circle from Borders and Corners Circle and edged my Ocean Tides circle with Prisma Glitter - love this stuff!!

Cupcake-Collection-2

Next up for today is Lisa's new set, Heavenly Medley - what a sweet spiritual set it is...I chose to make a simple card using patterned paper and the lovely Faith sentiment with the branch included in the set.  It is a lovely image.

  06-11-09-009

I love the Tea Leaves patterned paper with this image, it just suits it so perfectly.  I added some adhesive pearls and a bit of pretty Vintage Cream Satin Ribbon.

So, there you have it for now at least ;)!  I will be back with more this week, I need to make a whole separate post for my Fruitful project!  Have a great day!

Vintage Picnic Possibilities

Hooray, another Papertrey release with so many delicious stamp sets to choose from!  I love all of it, Nichole continues to come up with new and innovative designs each and every month.  This month, Mish got in on the action with a super fabulous idea that her and Nichole collaberated on...Vintage Picnic & Sentiments, it is such a cute set with so many *possibilities* - 4th of July, Teacher Appreciation, Holidays, Mother's Day, Get Well...and much more.  I chose to do a simple birthday card, using the plain tin image which I paper pieced and colored a bit -also using the fabulous new patterned paper for this month.  The color combo I used is a nice classic one, Berry Sorbet, Spring Moss, and Lemon Tart - added just a bit of Smokey Shadow too.

Vintage-Picnic-3

I added a little hand stitching to the bottom corner, just a simple backstitch, with three buttons to highlight it.  I also added some pewter brads to the handle on the tin, which I love for the dimension they added and a little vintage-y touch.

Vintage-Picnic-4-Close

Coaches Thanks

Hi there!  Thanks for all the useful tips on inspiration!  I have been stamping up a storm and enjoying it AND liking the projects!  Hooray!  I made a couple of these cards yesterday to give to Jacob's t-ball coaches at the "end of the season" party this weekend.  I used Nichole's card, see it here, for inspiration and altered it to be Jacob's team colors (they are the Red Sox).  I love the way it turned out - used All Star Team and All Star Team Additions (of course) as well as Limitless Labels (for the sentiment) and Star Prints.  Those red buttons are unfortunately not Papertrey, although I cannot wait for them to release Pure Poppy buttons, they are just some I found in my stash.  The blue cardstock is Night Sky Shimmer which takes Fresh Snow ink beautifully!

06-11-09-019

Short and sweet tonight, have to go get dinner with the family!   I will be back with a special post tomorrow night (midnight) - a sneak peek at a new set from Papertrey!  See you then!
