Alphabet Soup

Michael was wearing a onesie the other day with ABC's and 123's all over it and Jacob said, "Look Mom, Mikey has alphabet soup on his shirt."  That gave me an idea to make a background pattern and use it for a baby thank you card.  I used some of the new SU! In Colors for 2008, Pacific Point, Baja Breeze, Tangerine Tango, and Kiwi Kiss.  The sailboat is from the Baby Boy set I have used in the past and the little sentiment is from Papertrey Mixed Messages.

Papertrey Release - First Fruits

Loving Nichole's set this month, what a fabulous concent by Becky!  I can't wait to create more items with it, I only did one card cause I just ran out of time.  I love the pineapple image and will definitely use it for lots of stuff.  The wheat image is great too, love that it come with the tie separately.  I have lots more ideas brewing for this set!  For this card, I used Dark Chocolate and Palette Landscape to creae the acorns (this is similar to howthe unmature acorns look right now at our house, I know cause Jacob brings them inside all the time).  I created my own little tag/slider, using some lovely Making Memories brads to hold it on the Dark Chocolate twill - love this stuff!!!

So I will share some more with this set over the next few weeks, especially as we get closer to fall.  Thanks for taking a look at all my creations this month!  Have a great weekend!

Papertrey Release - Rustic Branches

Heather's first set, Rustic Branches, is wonderful, full of possibilities for all seasons.  I created two cards with this set, one with rich Dark Chocolate and Spring Moss and the other with brighter Lemon Tart and Summer Sunrise.  I really love how you can build so many different things with the set, from backgrounds to focal points and accents.  This is also a lovely Christmas set, simple and homey.  For the first card, I made a little frame with Circle Nestabilities to set off the focal branch image, that was stamped with Dark Chocolate (first and second impressions) and Spring Moss.

For the second card I made a little patterned paper and then cut it out with square Nestabilities, I can see making this paper in many different colors - I might even do some for Christmas.

I can't wait to see what everyone creates with this fabulous new set!

Papertrey Release - Spooky Sweets II

So I already shared my treat project the other day, but I also made a really simple Halloween card using the same color combo and images.  I like how the Dark Chocolate looks paired with Pumpkin Pie and Vintage Cream.  My favorite part is the strip I created my combining the Halloween Wishes sentiment with the dots from Rustic Branches.

Okay, be back in a bit with the rest of my projects, I have to go feed a hungry little guy!

Papertrey Release - Remember

So what do you all think of the new stuff from Papertrey this month?  I love all the sets that were released and can't wait to create more stuff with them throughout the month.  I decided to post all my creations in one day this time but to separate them by set.

I absolutely love Lisa's new set Remember, full of lovely poppy images and wonderful sentiments.  The possibilites are endless with this set and Lisa had so many fabulous ideas on her blog during the countdown.  Being from and living in California always brings to mind the California Poppy when I think about that flower.  It is the state flower and you are not supposed to pick them, but I remember one year my aunt came to a get together at my grandparents house with this beautiful bouquet of California poppies that she had picked...oops, everyone told her the mistake and I don't think it happened again, but it was funny.  So I had to do one card with orange poppies, I really just started stamping them and this card took shape.  I stamped off the Palette Orangerie color that I chose and then created the background image, the detail image is full strength Orangerie.  Same thing with the Palette Landscape for the leaves.

California-Poppies

For my second card, I used one of the flower center images to create a background wiyh wite on PTI Kraft.  I love the circular word image so I decided to use it as my focal point for this simple card.  I love how this turned out!

I am working on another card with this set that I will hopefully share in the next few days!

A Busy Day

Today has been really busy, Jacob started school and Michael had to visit the doctor and get shots.  Jacob did so so good on his first day of Kindergarten, he is so big!  Michael didn't enjoy getting shots but he is sleeping peacefully right now so that is good!  He is a whopping 14 lbs. already, what a chunker!  I love it though!

Besides all of that, I wanted to share my little treat project for Papertrey this month.  Nichole made a super Halloween treat set with Spooky Sweets II, I love it, so much versatility and I love the style.  Everyone made great treat projects!  I decided to make some yummy chocolate cupcakes and put a "dead" spider on top and use the sentiment "Eat if you dare" from the new set.  I thought the presentation of the cupcake would be good for a kids Halloween party or even for a classroom.  I might even do them for Jacob's class this year.  I think it would be fun to lead the kids in creating the paper spider on the front with the crimper and circle punch.  Incidentally, I love cupcakes and my favorite kind is chocolate with a cream cheese chocolate chip filling (called Black Bottom Cupcakes most of the time), I remember my mom making them when I was a kid.  What is your favorite cupcake?

Thanks for stopping by today!  I hope you are enjoying all the PTI previews everyone is sharing!

Happy Birthday Daddy & Jacob!

Today is my hubby's and my little boys birthday!  My hubby is going to be 33 and Jacob will be 5!  Can't believe he will be 5 already, seems like yesterday that I was holding him for the first time.  We celebrated his birthday this weekend with a little party at a fun pizza place.  We also celebrated my neice Hayden's birthday, she turns 3 on Friday.  It is fun to have a cousin with a birthday so close, we usually celebrate together.  Today we are taking Jacob to a science museum in Sacramento and out to eat at Red Robin (one of his favorite places).  He got lots of Legos for his birthday and the coolest Optimus Prime head that you can talk through and it will digitize your voice to sound robotic, it is very neat.  He wore it into the game center at the pizza place right after he opened it, hilarious!

So, Happy Birthday to two of my boys, I love you lots and lots!

Marble Art

Happy Friday!  It is a good Friday around here as my husband has 5 days off after today.  We will be celebrating Jacob's birthday this weekend (and his cousin Hayden's, their birthday's are only 3 days apart  - well 2 years and 3 days).  She will turn 3 and Jacob will turn 5.  I thought I would share a fun little card Jacob and I worked on this week.  One of our summer craft activities was to make some marble art, simple for a kid to do with a little paint and pan with sides and some washable poster paints.  You can use as many colors and marbles as you like, we could only find one marble but the pictures turned out cute.  We needed to make a thank you card for one of Jacob's early birthday gifts so I had the idea to use one of our marble art pieces to create a card.  I simply cut it to fit on a card front and added the sentiment in the corner.  The sentiment and borders come from PTI's Borders and Corners Square set.  I used different colors of Palette inks and the pink Marvy scalloped square punch to complete it.  Jacob wrote the card with a little help from his mommy, but he is getting better at doing it himself.   Here is the card and the following picture is Jacob creating his artwork!

2 Months Already!

Michael passed his two month birthday yesterday and he is doing great.  He smiles and coos all the time, at mommy, at daddy, at Jake, at toys, he is a really happy baby.  He seems to not look as much like Jake as we first thought so we'll just have to see how he turns out - everyone says he looks just like daddy.  He is sleeping much better - 6 and 7 hours at a time at night - which is wonderful for mommy.  He already has lots of baby fat rolls, which I love.  We are so happy to have him as part of our little family.

This is the last picture I took yesterday, it took forever to get a decent one!  The first two he was screaming his head off!  Love the dimple on this one!   Have a great Thursday!

Guide Lines and Gratitude

Good Monday Morning!  I am taking advantage of the fact that my little guy is still sleeping and posting something early!!!  I made this card last week while exploring the new SU! In Colors, this one uses Pink Piroutte and Riding Hood Red, which really compliment each other well.  I made some more background paper using Papertrey's cool set, Guide Lines.  I added the sentiment from Spiral Bouquet, I thought the style really mimicked the style of the background I created.  The white is PTI Stampers Select White, seriously you will not find a better white cardstock.  I chose to add a little vellum to mat the sentiment for an elegant feel.  The ribbon is from a valentine pack from Martha Stewart that I got a while back.

Hope you all have a great start to your week.  It is our last full week before school starts and life becomes more hectic!  Tomorrow we have Kindergarten assessments to complete so they can place Jacob in the right class.  We might finish up some school clothes shopping too, although Jacob has informed me that he does not like buying clothes (unless they have Transformers or Spiderman on them).  Thanks for stopping by today!
