When Nichole asked us to create a project centered around a Holiday Family Tradition, I immediately thought of what my family (or mostly my mom) does every Christmas Eve. I have been lucky enough to spend almost every Christmas of my childhood and adult life with my whole family (all my siblings) and we always open gifts all together on Christmas morning. While opening gifts we always eat these delicious Orange Crescent Rolls that my mom has always made on Christmas Eve. If we are all together on Christmas Eve, we make them together or my mom just makes them by herself (and they are pretty labor intensive!!). I thought it would be nice to do a framed piece with the recipe for these delicious rolls for my mom. That way she will never lose the recipe and always be reminded of all of our Christmas' together. As my twin sisters get older and have families of their own (one of my twin sisters is engaged and her fiance is in the military), I am sure we will not always be able to get together on Christmas but I am so thankful that we are still able to and I will be sad when that changes.
I used the new Holiday Vintage Prints patterned papers and the new Merry and Bright set for the design. I LOVE these new papers, they are gorgeous!!! I used the new Encore Gold and Pure Poppy ink for the stars, it looks really pretty together. A little accent of Gold Sheer Metallic Ribbon finished it off.
I also wanted to make a little gift bag to package them in since each family usually ends up taking some rolls home and I though this would be a nice addition for everyone. I used my Oval Nestabilities to cut out the Vintage Cream cardstock that had already been stamped in Spring Moss with the snowflake trio stamp from Merry and Bright (this is such an awesome stamp, love the background it creates). Then I added a strip of Holiday Vintage Prints paper and cut out my Merry and Bright tree which was stamped with Spring Moss and Landscape inks. I added a little Gold Shimmer tag, cut with my Spellbinders tag dies. It is all packaged in a Papertrey Frosted Tin Tie Bag, love these bags!!
What are your special family traditions? Why not create a project based upon these traditions? I can't wait to give mine to my mom, I think she will really like it!
This is such a wonderful idea. Thank you. Would you by chance share the recipe? Just looking at that cresent roll makes me crave it more.

What a wonderful idea, to frame the recipe for your mother. And the bags you made are great too. I wish we could buy packaging like that over here.

What a wonderful idea. You are so very fortunate to be able to get together with your whole family at one time.
Please, please share the recipe for the orange rolls. Thank you!

That is such a great idea. It is funny how holiday traditions seem to have something to do with food. I was just looking at Lauren Meader's blog and she has food as well. I was commenting on her blog how since I married my husband we are trying to keep his Italian heritage traditions alive by making traditional Italian food for Christmas Eve. I have even purchased a pizzelle (Italina cookie) maker and make those during the holidays. Everyone LOVES them, they are great. TFS your great tradition. I wouldn't mind having the recipe hehehe

The frame is adorable and the rolls look absolutely yummy...my mouth is watering. Did you bake up a batch so you could include it in the photo? They definitely look too delish to just have once a year.
