Our group assignment for October from Nichole was to create a set of easily reproducable holiday cards using one of Papertrey's recent holiday stamp sets. I chose to use last months lovely set, Rustic Snowflakes, by Heather Nichols. This is a fabulous go to set for me, I will use it over and over throughout the season. I wanted to make sure my cards were simple and easily mailable, so that extra postage is not required. I was tempted to add a button but chose not to for this reason.
For the focal image, I used the wonderful new green Ripe Avocado, to stamp one of the larger snowflakes from the set. I actually stamped them all on one piece of SS White first to save time. Then I added the little flurry stamp in Spring Moss all around the larger snowflakes. Then I punched them out with the Marvy Extra Jumbo Circle Punch (Yellow). I matted them on a piece of Ripe Avocado that had been punched out with the Marvy Mega Circle Punch (Blue). The border looked really boring so I added the two small circle stamps in the set in a pattern around the outside. I used Palette New Canvas for this. I then added small bits of glitter (Martha Stewart lighter green) to the small circles only using a glue pen. As a finishing touch I added a small red rhinestone to the center of the snowflake, I like the extra sparkle from it.
For the layout, I simply scored two lines in the mid section of my card, they are roughly 1 1/2" apart. I then added a 1 1/4" strip of Holiday Vintage Prints patterned paper - I chose the dots but you could use any of them. The small sentiment was stamped in color on color (Pure Poppy ink on Pure Poppy cardstock), I liked the subtlety of it. I actually stamped all the sentiments at once on the Pure Poppy cardstock lining them up as well as possible, then I trimmed them out individually with my paper cutter. I added a decorated envelope, super easy to do, using two of the snowflakes stamped in Ripe Avocado and Pure Poppy on the back flap.
Here is my set of 5, which I easily could have duplicated to 25 or more if necessary. It really wouldn't have taken me much more time at all. The wonderful and talented Nichole has put together a downloadable pdf with a supply list, cutting list, and sketch for each designers cards. Make sure you check them all out at her blog! Thank you for checking out my cards and I hope this has inspired you to get yours done early, I actually plan on attaching a small picture of my boys to the inside cover (maye with magnets) and sending these out! Have a great day!!
