Time seems to fly by and before we all know it, the hustle and bustle of the holidays will be upon us. No time like the present to take a peak at a great gift idea to spark your imagination. Nichole gave us a wonderful assignment this month, make a card with the new (beautiful) Tree Trimming Trio and highlight a gift idea that you will be giving this year or have given in the past.
First of all, the new Tree Trimming Trio set is so fun and pretty, such great possibilities for holiday cards here and really simple to make a card that packs a punch. I, however, went a bit more complicated with my card, nothing crazy just a bit more stamping and a few more embellishments. I used the large dotted tree that also includes stars but I really wanted the stars to be a different color. Since it was all one stamp, I decided to try stamping it twice...first in Lemon Tart (the color I wanted the stars to be) and then over that in Ripe Avocado - but first removing all Ripe Avocado ink from the stars. Okay, let me just tell you that I did this about 10 times before I got one I liked and that was lined up correctly. Anyhow, I loved the result so I decided it was worth the effort. I added a star to the top, using the star stamp from the set on Lemon Tart cardstock and punched with the small star punch from Fiskars. I stamped the tree and trunk (in Dark Chocolate) on White Shimmer cardstock and then I added Pure Poppy Vintage Buttons (stitched on with Lemon Tart embroidery floss) in the ornament spaces.
Now, for a fun gift idea...my husband makes out of the world delicious BBQ sauce, like I don't even remotely enjoy the grocery store brands cause he has spoiled me...anyhow, he loves to make it and experiment with different spice intensities so we end up with lots. So we started putting it in cute Mason jars (similar to the ones I use & Dawn uses for buttons - just bigger, I got them at KMart) and giving them to friends and family. For the holidays I will package them with a cute little label (like the one shown) and some ribbon, then add a spice rub (we might make some of this too) and maybe a brush and little BBQ sauce pan - what a perfect little gift for a neighbor, coworker, friend, pretty much anyone who likes to eat BBQ!
I used Simple Alphabet for the words, the new Vintage Labels and the star again from the Tree Trimming Trio set. The patterned paper is from last years super cute Vintage Holiday Prints set. I really like how it turned out and can't wait to package it up and give it to someone special. Here is a picture of the set together...
Hope you have enjoyed this simple and inexpensive gift idea! Pop over to the other girls blogs for more wonderful ideas...

I am noticing all the gifts from the kitchen today and not one secet recipe to be found! I am disappointed about that, but I love your gift idea. It is very unique.

Super cute, Geny! I love all the stars you sprinkled throughout your tree! I have been inspired to make lots of CAS cards this month, too. It must be the hustle and bustle associated with the holiday. Have a great weekend!

I love the modern take on the Christmas Tree on this card - it has a clean fresh feel to it.
The card is not over - fussy and works well
